ABM International, Inc. acquires machinery businesses, Gribetz International and Porter International, from Leggett & Platt, signaling the merging of the largest and longest standing American bedding machine manufacturers!

ABM International, Inc., headquartered at Montgomery, Texas, was founded in 1947 as an industrial machine manufacturer in Chicago Illinois. With Neal Schwarzberger at the helm of this four-generation family-owned business, ABM has survived economic and industrial changes through the decades by continual evolution, flexibility, innovative engineering, and market expansion. In addition to ABM’s industrial machine manufacturing, divisions of ABM include INNOVA Quilting Systems, Necchi US home sewing, and Accustitch.

The businesses acquired from Leggett & Platt include a collection of America’s oldest and best-known bedding machine manufacturers, such as Gribetz, Porter, and Galkin, which bring over 117 years of manufacturing excellence to ABM. The acquisition includes 70 high quality employees, over 100,000 square feet of additional state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, unmatched engineering capabilities, and top-notch service and support. After competing for over 78 years, these manufacturers combine to create a powerhouse of engineering and machine manufacturing expertise. Led by Paul Block, the new division of ABM International, Inc., will be consolidated as GRIBETZ.

As President of ABM International, Neal has always believed that service and support are the foundation for success. The service and support team at ABM have continually gone above and beyond, receiving great accolades. Neal is excited at the prospect of GRIBETZ bringing a Parts and Service team, led by John Kelley, that is quite exceptional and will continue to provide to the industry.

Experienced and knowledgeable sales teams, along with long-standing worldwide service and sales agents from both companies will converge to provide on-site solutions to all manufacturers’ growing needs.

Customers will be able to find the new GRIBETZ website at www.gribetz.com. Service and support will remain intact although customers may need to re-create their account login with the new website.

Neal’s unleashed passion for the industry, drive of ingenuity and fervor for growth, combined with the newly acquired assets, tools, and knowledge provide capabilities to bring innovative and exciting new technology and machines to the market.

Paul Block, GRIBETZ President of Sales, commented, “I am excited about the synergies these companies will create for the mattress and home furnishings industries.”
